... and thanks for taking a look. I am a professionally licensed architect in Black Mountain, North Carolina. I've worked in architectural offices since I was sixteen. This is my inaugural website and represents the start of my independent practice. Don't spend a lot of time here. Websites are simulations, only the reality of virtual reality. Yet please come back now and then. I'll be adding content, writing on building issues and documenting the development of the work. Click on titles in left column margin for content. PHILOSOPHY
Credibility in architecture results from the combination of creative form and technical necessity. Nothing lasts forever. Yet, I work to make buildings last as long as possible. Saving money and consuming a minimal amount of natural resources over the life cycle of the building is a primary goal.
From that foundation I work with my clients to develop a comprehensive personal plan for their project and to understand what inspires them about building. My clients do not consider buildings merely a place to house the body, but also a place, when residing, for the human spirit. This includes qualities of repose and refuge, shelter from the storm, utility and endurance, comfort, hospitality, pleasure, color, light, and the drama of balanced forces within the framework of gravity.
